HAREM PANTS

I don't own any harem pants and quite frankly I'm not in a hurry to buy any.
I like the harem shorts in the first picture especially because of the cute bow detail.
The harem pants in the second picture look a little too fugly for my taste. Maybe I'd wear the third ones and shock the hell out of everybody..
When I saw this last pair I immediately thought gypsy, something about the color and the flowy see through material.
Anyway for my work wardrobe I have been toying with the idea of getting myself some black harem pants (the kind that Tyra Banks wears in cycle 13 of America's next top model) and pairing that with a  ruffled blouse, what do you guys think of my idea??

WHEN I'M FEELING DOWN.

Hello my precious readers,

I hope you are having a lovely week. I am in the middle of my exams and my stress levels are at an all time high. Last minute studying, finishing up on assignments and bla bla bla boring stuff.

Cut to the good part. High heels.. I love them and when I'm feeling down, nothing boosts my confidence like a pair nice of heels..
When you're feeling low, wear high.... he he.

So anyway taking a break from studying I came across these Dolce Vita jeweled heels.

which Id probably wear the with this dress,

It's velvet and I love the colour.

And top it off with this lovely hat.

Brixton Portman Felt Cloche

Yeah, I know, Its got a brown band. That's why Id wear it :)

simply Chic

When simple meets chic, the result is this goregeous wallet by Chloe. In a neutral brown, this is quite versatile. I love it.

SYLIVIA OWORI- Fresh Fashion Collection

If we share the same taste in magazines then it means that African woman is your favourite magazine in East Africa. I think this is the only fashion magazine this side of Africa that is worth the light of day.

The most featured designer is Sylvia Owori and her designs will make you go gaga. Absolutely gorgeous. Normally when you hear of an Afican desingner you think, Khanga, Kitenge, Maasai cloak and all that "african-y" stuff, and I am not saying that this is bad but I think it limits versitility of the designs.

Sylvia Owori designs, from clothes to shoes and bags deliver the goodness of Africa with a western twist and I feel that's what sets her apart and why she remains top of my list of African designers.

I was browsing through her Fresh Fashion Collection and these three looks were my top picks.

For every day wear,

And of course the romantic red dress pictured above. See more red dresses here.

No closet is complete without a black dress. I absolutely love this one. Its beautiful. I love the detailing and the layering on the lower part, perfect for my petite frame.

Do you love all things Sylvia Owori ( pricy as they come)???

Cocktail Rings

Cocktail rings have been around for many decades and more than ever their popularity is in its peak time now. Bet you didn't know that this timeless piece of jewerely was first designed in the American prohibition era.

They were fashion symbols worn to secret "cocktail" parties organised in secret clubs known as "speakeasy". Women wore them on the fourth finger of the right hand. These oversized ring then came to be known as cocktail rings. Now you know.

Some of my favourite picks at the moment..

cocktail rings

Cocktail rings are most popular for formal parties but are fun as well for every day wear.

Totaly exquisite cocktail rings from Topazery below.

Late Victorian Antique Opal RingVintage Filigree Engagement Ring by TopazeryAntique Victorian Emerald Engagement Ring

Tips on rocking cocktail rings:

  • Do wear large studs or pearl earings to compliment the elegance and glamour of your cocktail ring.

  • Do not over accessorize when wearing one. Do not wear other smaller rings (except maybe your wedding ring.)

  • Do ear the ring on your index or middle finger, although this isn't set in stone

  • Do experiment with different rings and clothes and go with whatever makes you feel fun

Do you love them or hate them??

I love them :)

Fashionista Orie Rogo Manduli

What is the first thing that comes to mind when you hear the name Orie Rogo Manduli?? Head gear!! This lady is well known for her elaborate head wrap; heck these items of clothing are synonymous with her name, manduli. Say you went to your tailor in need of a headdress but found you had trouble explaining to her (or him) exactly what you wanted, simply throwing in the name manduli would clarify all details.

Orie Rogo manduli spotting a red headdress.

The image “http://teyie.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/12/orie_rogo_manduli.jpg” cannot be displayed, because it contains errors.

She is one woman filled with life and her prescence is a force to reckon with. Every time I see her on T.v im always jazzed by her flamboyance. Hate if you must but she is who she is and her confidence can not be punctured.

I met this lady once. It was back when I was still in high school. On a certain evening on our way back to school from a funkie (school function). Our school bus took us to Kenchic Street, this had become a tradition after funkies. We were there to buy fries and other fast foods that we craved so much at the time.

Only a few girls were allowed out and the rest stayed in the bus and sent the few with their orders. Of course I was among the few. We walked into one of the numerous joints ( I cant remember which one exactly- I think Sanford) and what we saw was unbelievable.

Orie Rogo manduli, in the flesh glamour and all. Wow! She was a sight to behold, her utter elegance was undeniably on point. What the hell was she doing this side of town??

The image “https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgzyXl2B29nhUYXEtUauBrLbVhB0P7m2mGqSRIhSTv9w5OZ8AmV0EZuHWr5eV0zCmfnqhMMbNWQYWZs8VwBqjQF_SSJhK40vWgC70a2Z_9E6MR_c15vRtbY4a5eROkjazmc5guyaljLYPg/s320/sty-roie6.jpg” cannot be displayed, because it contains errors.

After the excitement wore off (of course we were excited, we were in high school, this was as exciting as it got.) we headed to the counter and placed our orders. Soon after Orie stood up, she was leaving the café, but was unaware of what awaited her.

No sooner had she set foot outside the café than a hoard of girls rent the air with their screams and shouts hollering at her. It was a scene straight out of a red carpet event.

Knowing Orie, it goes without saying that she was enjoying all the attention. The girls were allowed out for a meet and greet session (some took this very rare opportunity to look for boys.)

It was the third term of the academic year and so cameras were allowed in school. Everyone was eager to take photos with this legendary lady but not before she could touch up her make up. She whipped out a mirror and lipstick and smack! She even gave us a tutorial on how to apply lipstick right down to the smacking of the lips.. Anyway click click cameras flashed away as we posed and posed some more for photos of this memorable day. She then dished out some business cards and bla bla bla we were back in prison, oops school.

And that is the day I will never forget (How many marks do you think I would score if this was a composition?? I’m thinking 38/40 he he..) :) :)

long Gloves...

Its been chilly lately. Frozen finger tips and ice cold knuckles are becoming the norm for most early risers. This is therefore the perfect season to invest in a stylish pair of long gloves. Gloves are worn mostly for functional reasons but keeping you warm is not all they are good for.

The image “http://www.catwalkqueen.tv/trends_gloves.jpg” cannot be displayed, because it contains errors.

Gloves can be a good way to brighten up an otherwise dull outfit. They can be used to add a well needed splash of colour to an understated look or simply to finish off a look with a touch of class.

For a stylish twist team your gloves up with a sparkly bracelet or throw on a chuncky bangle on your wrist over the gloves. You can also scrunch them down to add a bit of volume.

Have fun staying fabulous in this chilly weather.

what is your take on gloves??

Noritaka Tatehana..

Who is Noritaka Tatehana?

Well, he is a 25-yr old young and upcoming designer who hails from Japan. He is based in Omotesando, Tokyo.

He graduated from Tokyo National University of fine arts in March this year and majored in textile arts.

Now, we all know Lady Gaga and her gaga heel-less gravity defying
shoes, ever wondered who makes them?? Two words, Noritaka Tatehana.

On average, the shoes are about 23 cm tall, (thats about 9.1 inches,
wow, I always thought 6 inches was quite tall, hmm..) and the get even
taller.

a pair would set you back about $2,500 to $4,000 (roughly 300,000
Ksh. Its either the vitz or the shoes.. ha ha) Given the intricate
design involved in creating these magnificent art works, id say they
are well worth the money. Now as for the vitz..

I guess thats enough literature review, now let his work speak for him

And now the most Qualified model for Noritaka's shoes,
ladies and gentlemen, Gaga..

Im waiting for the day she falls off a pair of these shoes. They look so unstable.. ( No sadistic wishes..)

I digress now to bring you this photo of Gaga wearing alexander mcqueen shoes. (pic from the video bad romance by Lady Gaga) .

would you consider wearing such shoes?? I know it would be out of the question for most of us in Kenya. Can you imagine walking on our dirt ridden walkways all the while dodging cobble stones and mud puddles.. That would be quite the sight.

Im sure even the boda boda guys would offer to gve you a lift for free. It would go something like " we, madam kuja tu nikubebe bure. Naona siku yako imeharibika mapema, viatu yote imevnjika..". " Na nikuulize, unabalance namna gani??" (Question: Is it still called a lift if its on the back of a bike??? )
